Greene County July 4th Festivities for 2014
Looking for Greene County July 4th festivities? Celebrate Independence Day in the historic town of Stanardsville VA. Surrounded by history with the Blue Ridge Mountains as your backdrop. Greene County July 4th festivities will include a parade through the downtown area. Beginning at 10 o’clock the festive parade will come right down Main Street. All of the floats will be judged on their patriotic theme. Cash prizes will be awarded by the Greene County historical society to the very best, 2nd and 3rd place.
Main Street is lined with historic buildings that were constructed even before our independence. Following the parade will be a patriotic program on Courthouse Square. The patriotic program will include a reading of the Declaration Of Independence. Also included in the program will be musical performances. Ringing of the bells will take place at noon. Everyone is encouraged to participate by bringing bells and various noise makers.
Food Ice Cream and drinks will be available for purchase. Beginning at 11 at the Methodist Church Habitat for Humanity will be serving a BBQ lunch. Enjoy the homemade pork barbecue, baked beans, cole slaw and potato salad. Be sure to save room for desert! $8 for adults and just 4$ for children. Free bottled water and watermelon will be available as well.
